Kabuto Yakushii

Kabuto Yakushi is a major opponent of the series who was firstly introduced as a Konohagakure genin. He was orphaned by war as a child, and was found by Nono Yakushi and raised in the Konoha Orphanage. When joining Root, he served as a deep cover agent in another countries for some years before defecting and joining Orochimaru, where he acted as his special medic, research assistant, and general right-hand-man. Through the Fourth Ninja World War after Orochimaru's sealing, Kabuto joined military with Tobi and Akatsuki.

Kabuto as a child with Nono

Kabuto and NanoKabuto's initial childhood memory is being found by Nono on the outer edge of a destroyed village. Distress from a head injury and amnesia, he had no memory of his parents or his own identity. The nun treated his wounds with medical ninjutsu and brought him to the orphanage. Shy and reserved, Kabuto did not speak to anyone or thank the nun for her kindness, which led a fellow orphan, Urushi, to question whether or not he had any manners, before slamming a helmet on Kabuto's head to protect his healing wound. When the group encountered Team Oboro, Kabuto's glasses were knocked off of his face after saving Naruto Uzumaki from an attack. When Guren and her squad fail to kill a group of Konoha ninja, Kabuto has them assist in summoning the Three-Tails. Kabuto ordered Guren to hold back it with her Crystal Release. When she proves unable to do so, Kabuto retreats upon realizing he needs to rethink their plan.

Arriving after Orochimaru's defeat at the hands of Sasuke, Kabuto learns of the occasions from Sasuke using his genjutsu to expose his master's loss. With Orochimaru no more, Kabuto gathered the remnants of Orochimaru's corpse and absorbs them into his body. However, Kabuto finds himself under pressure to keep control of his body. In the anime, as Tobi was about to depart Mountains' Graveyard, Kabuto stops him and asks where he was departing. Tobi replies that it was none of his concern, but tells him that he was going to Amegakure, to which Kabuto gives a deceitful smile after their brief discussion.

When Tobi be given intel on the position of the Eight-Tails and Nine-Tails, Kabuto offers to go detain them. Kabuto give details that he is concerned in studying Yamato, the Nine-Tails' protector. If Tobi would he prefer he not go, Kabuto says he would resolve for a possibility to study Zetsu. Tobi replies that he can have his own Zetsu to study if he manages to catch the Nine-Tails. Apparently moving to use Sasuke's sword to cut his own tail, he in its place intercepts and impales Itachi with the blade, just as his watery tail begins to slip free. However, when Itachi unexpectedly disperses into a flock of crows, Kabuto's horn is detached in the resulting counter after Itachi commandeers Sasuke's sword, but he merely remarks that he had yet to get used to possessing horns.

Sage Art Inorganic Reincarnation

Declaring that the duo was harshly underestimating him, Kabuto uses his Sage Art Inorganic Reincarnation technique to control the surrounding cave formations with the intention of attack them. Debilitating Itachi who had instead protected Sasuke, Kabuto recovers a talisman from his snake, purpose on overwriting Itachi's mind. Though, before he can do so, he is stopped by Sasuke who makes a ring of Amaterasu around himself and Itachi. Assessing Sasuke's choice of defense, Kabuto asserts that there was no way they could beat him because he had come closest to the Sage of the Six Paths than anybody in the ninja world.

Kabuto is capable of using Earth Style to move underground.
